How can I compare flight statuses from several public sources?

While testing Flighys alongside another tool, I discovered that sometimes two flight tracking apps display different information for the same trip. Is there a standard way to confirm which source is most reliable, and would cross-referencing with airline websites or airport data be the best course of action?
